This is a project founded by Butterfly Project member Byamugisha Gilbert, when he was 14 years old, when he travelled from Kampala to his home village. Gilbert is a very talented young man, with amazing creative abilities in art and choreography. Gilbert travelled to remote village Nambere with another Butterfly member Manisuli Miyingo, who was then just 13, as his photographer, and they visited the visited elders and discussed the starting of a long-term music project, with a view to developing something which could perform at special events, such as weddings in the village area, earning some money to keep it going. Gilbert also wanted to conduct children's activities and before he travelled to the village he planned and purchased equipment for a 7 day children's programme, including art, dance, singing and games. It was a wonderful week, entirely implemented by these two boys. Before he left, Gilbert discussed the sustainability of the project with local adults who had offered to take over from him, rehearsing the children and developing the potential business. Within a few months, the project had raised enough money to buy themselves some equipment and a set of drums, which were needed for the group. The project is still ongoing two years later.
