What's a uView®?

My uViews

Media is anything that communicates a voice. It's news and information, which the receiver finds relevant to them.

Be it an article, a letter, a discussion, a video, art, a rant or a photograph, media is meant to communicate to you. So we decided to give this a name.

Whatever form they may take, or perspective they may carry, uViews are ‘Media for the People. By the People!’

What’s Involved In Submitting A uView®?

uView Editor

Our step by step process will make building a uView® easy as pie. Your uView can be as simple as a few lines of text, or as detailed and precise as you like. What matters is your voice — try it out — get talking today!

Here’s a quick overview of all that you’ll be asked to do:

  • Give your content a title
  • Submit your content (text, weblinks, videos, pictures...)
  • Provide us with some keywords that tell us what your content’s all about and tell us which subjects in the navigation menu you’d like your content to be featured within
  • If it’s an event that your posting, you’ll want to include some dates (our event calenders make this so easy for you to do!)
  • If you like, you can:
  • Change the automatic summary generated to promote your uView
  • Upload a feature image, (this is the image used when your uView is selected for featuring on a home page)
  • Then published — that’s it! Clicking publish sends your uView directly onto the site — unfiltered publishing!

Play around!

Until you decide to publish your uView, no-one else gets a peek (unless you give them permission of course!)

Can you help me create a uView?

Absolutely.

Instead of clicking publish to submit your uView live onto the site, click on submit to editor. You’ll get an email when an editor picks it up and you can chat with them through email from there.

Important Note: YOU get the final say on what gets submitted! Only when you have approved your uView will it be able to go live onto the site. Your editor is simply there as a free helping hand.

What makes uViews Interactive?

The following features are located at the foot of each content page. Each uView or user Poll enables users to:

Rate Content Rate Content
‘Thumbs up/down!’ Simple as that.

Email Friends
Email Friends CM enables users to email friends/other users with links to polls, entire uViews or a particular comment within a comment thread. You can also forward quotes. An area is provided where users can submit a personal comment with the link. The recipient sees the email as coming from the sender (as opposed to the actual site).

RSS/Email Feeds
RSS/Email Feeds RSS and/or Email Feeds enable users to be alerted when:

  • The author of related content publishes new content
  • Any new content is submitted within the relating subject matter
  • Any new comments on the related content are posted

To serve users in their participation management, all requested user alerts are sent out together — once every 24 hours.

Share & Save
Share & Save ‘Share & Save’ is a social bookmarking facilitator, which can be used to share links with other people or bookmark pages for future reference.

Submit Complaints
Submit Complaints Complaints are sent directly to the site publisher. Emailed alerts provide the publisher with the users contact information, thus enabling them to appropriately respond.

Printer Friendly
Printer Friendly Enables users to make the page being viewed suitable for printing.

View History
View History All content within CM sites can be re-edited by the author. ‘View History’ enables users can compare revisions of any given uView.

Site Registration Help

Why do I need to register an account before I can take part?

Having users register an account, helps us to ensure an excellent user experience for all those who take part.

If all content online were anonymous, we may as well make the whole thing up! It’s not that we need to know who you are (we don’t), but we do need you to have a consistent Userid.

Registering an account means you can create a profile — make it easy for people to find out about you and to search on all the content you create.

Important Note: CM registration is fast, safe, simple and secure. We will never sell your information to a third party, nor will we send you emails that do not directly relate to your selected participation on any CM Site.

Once you’ve created your account, your user login will work for any CM Site you visit — you’ll never need to register again!

What do you need to know in order for me to register an account — and why?

What we need to know:

  • Your choice of Userid.

This is how you will be identified on CM Sites.

  • You’ll need to submit a password.

This is to keep your account secure. For this reason, please keep your password safe and do not share with others. If for some reason you suspect someone has managed to break into your account, please contact us immediately on 1-888-My uView or email support@thecitizensmedia.com.

  • Contact email.

This is for: when you subscribe to email content feeds; sending confirmations relating to your participation; assisting you in uView submissions (when requested); and responding to your enquiries.

  • Your Postal or Zip Code

Your postal code identifies your home community. CM is community based media. By providing us with your home community, we will be able to ensure your content reaches the sites that is relevant to you.
